...The Exciting Post

First of all I have to say that we are so blessed. I'll get to that in a minute...

As some of you may know, Ben was laid off from his job 2.5 months ago. It has been a very hard stressful couple of months. I was so proud of Ben, the minute he got home and told me he'd been laid off (I did not believe him, he had to tell me 4 times before I finally realized it was true) he went straight to the computer and started applying for jobs. He would set a time everyday that he would look for jobs, and set time to do homework. Trying to find a job in this market is very difficult, and I hope not many of you are going through it. Well, he interviewed at Bechtel a couple of weeks ago and got offered a really great job in Washington. The same day he got a call from PacifiCorp (Rocky Mountain Power), interviewed on Saturday, and got a job offer from them. So what do we do? We have two fabulous job offers with excellent companies. Do we go on an adventure to another state and get really good experience with a huge engineering construction company and Ben would finish his MBA and get a masters in Engineering at the same time at Washington State University, or do stay here with a great company in the energy field and Ben would finish his MBA at University of Utah? There is a lot more to the decision but it would take too long to write. So with that said, our decision is...we are staying and taking the job with PacifiCorp.

So yes, we are so blessed. In the midst of the Christmas Season we were offered a dinner for Thanksgiving (which we turned down, but we were so grateful for the offer...we would rather it go to someone who needed it more than we did), we had money left in our mailbox, and we had gifts and food at our door step by anonymous people. I can't express the love I have for the people who did this. I wish I knew so I could thank them, but I'm sure it's better this way. Being without a job really puts things into perspective. I really am blessed. I have SO much and give SO little. How terrible is it of me to complain that I don't have money to do fancy things or buy fancy clothes? I'm so grateful I have a bed to sleep in, and a beautiful home with more space than we really need. I am so grateful that I have a pantry full of food, and that I have diapers for my baby. I am so grateful that I have fabulous friends, neighbors, and family who have let me complain, who have prayed for us, and put our names on the prayer roll in the temple. We love you all, and your prayers and our prayers have been answered. We have our family, we have a great job that Ben will be starting soon, we didn't have to dip too much into our savings, and we are staying in Utah where our home is.

Pink Eye

My little Ethan walking.

First of all, yes I have Pink Eye. Yuck huh? I woke up with it yesterday, but I thought maybe I just had a cold or something. I went to my mother-in-law's last night and she said, "Kelly, you have pink eye, go see a doctor". So I saw a doctor today. Don't worry though, I've been washing my hands every half hour and I have NOT been touching my eye. Sorry about the gross update on my health.

We went to my parent's house again for Sunday dinner. My parent's have a tradition of making sugar cookies with the grand kids every year, but since my boys are allergic to eggs they decided to make rice crispy treats instead. This is Ryan helping my mom stir the marshmallows.

Ryan loves his Grandpa Harris. Here they are watching football.

This was Saturday. Below is of Ben's side of the family. We had a baby shower in Bountiful for Ben's cousin's wife Ali. This is of Laramie (I probably spelt her name wrong), cousin Lindsay, sister-in-law Shayla, and I. We were joking that I was on the low chair and I looked like a kid, so I threw myself on Shayla's lap. I would have lied across them all, but I didn't want to squish Lindsay's baby belly. So the picture above is after the shower. Shayla came to my house and we ordered pizza because Ben and some of his brother's, Jake, Sam and Rob went to their annual dinner at Rodizio's. So anyway, the picture above is of Ben, Lane, and Ethan. Ethan was kissing Lane for 20 minutes straight. It was adorable, he got so mad when I would take him away from Baby Lane.

Stay tuned I will have an exciting post next time...

3 Man Push Up

We go to my Mom and Dad's house for dinner almost every Sunday. This Sunday all of the kids were there. That doesn't happen very often. Starting at the bottom clockwise, Dad, Lynzie, Kit, Summer, my empty chair, Ben, Ryan, Brant, Liz, Jud, Mom and Ethan. We had a great time and the food was wonderful.

This looks bad but it's a 3 man push up. I'm telling you, my family is a little crazy sometimes.

My brother Brant and I (he's still single if there are any takers).

Jud, his wife Liz, and I. I felt a little left out of all that snuggling going on.

My Hubby

1. Where did you meet? In our High School Cafeteria

2. How long did you date before you got married? The first time (in high school) we dated for about 4 months until he went to Utah State. Then after his mission we dated for about 3 months before we were engaged. (it sounds short, but we knew each other for a long time (like 4 years)

3. How long have you been married? 6.5 years

4. What does he do to surprise you? If I'm having a really bad day sometimes he'll let me go to a movie, or bring me home some ice cream after school.

5. What is your favorite feature of his? His hands

6. What is you favorite quality about him? He's really smart, and I'm not very logical, I'm very emotional. So he can tell me if I'm being a butt and actually have it make sense. Hmm, maybe that's not a good thing?
7. Does he have a nickname for you? I don't think he has one. He calls me Kell, but that's it.

8. What is his favorite food? Bone in Ham

9. What is his favorite sport? I'm lucky, he doesn't watch sports. But I'd say his favorite to play would be football.

10. When and where did you first kiss? When I was 16 on my mother's couch (romantic ey?)

11. What is your favorite thing to do as a couple? Before we had kids we liked to go to the gym, but now we just like to have a hot meal someplace without distractions.

12. Does he have any hidden talents? He sings really well, and he's good at building computers and other technical junk

13. How old is he? 28

14. Who said I love you first? He said I love you through an e-mail

15. What is his favorite music? Jimmy Eat World and lots of other stuff.

16. What do you admire most about him? That he is so ethical. He is always honest with people, and really wants to do the right thing even though he may want to scream and yell. (again, he is logical, I am emotional)

17. What is his favorite color? Green

18. Which side of the bed does he sleep on? The side by the door. I like him to be there just in case of an intruder he can bust out his kung fu moves

19. Will he read this? Probably

The Lights

We went to Temple Square to see the lights with our good friends Ash & Audrey and family. We met at the Gateway and rode trax to Temple Square. The train was Ryan's favorite part. We always have such a good time with the Buchanan's here are some pictures:

Here is Audrey's sister Monica and her boyfriend Joel with Ryan and Eliza on their shoulders. Ryan loved Joel. We're grateful Joel was a good sport, and didn't mind Ryan tagging along with him.

Cute little Ethan. He got so tired. He was exhausted after being out in the cold for so long.

Ash, Audrey, Eliza, Micah, Sarah, and Ryan in front of the reflection pond.

The kids by the reflection pond. They loved the statue in the middle and all the candles. It was beautiful!

Ash, Audrey, Eliza, Micah, Sarah, Monica, Me, Ben & Ethan (Joel was taking the picture, and Ryan was running back and forth in front of us saying "you can't catch me").

Ethan kept trying to kiss Sarah while we were watching a video in the visitors center.

Our Thanksgiving and Other Stuff

This year for Thanksgiving we were able to make it to both of our family dinners. Ben's family had his at their church in Tooele at Noon, then we went to my family at 3 pm and ate at 4:30. We were stuffed at the end of the day but the food was fabulous and it was nice seeing everyone. Although I only got pictures at Ben's because I forgot my camera for my family. Sorry for the long post.

I love this picture. Ethan loved kicking the basketball around the gym.

Me with our nephew Baby Lane.

Ryan with Grandma Linda at the kids craft table making a turkey.

Some of Ben's extended family while eating dinner (or lunch for us).

This picture is out of order, but Ben built a shed next to our house so we are now able to get not one, but two cars in our garage. How cool is that?

We went to my sister's house for my nephew's 6th birthday. These are just pictures from that. Gotta love the kissy picture.

Me, Ben, Ethan chillin' on the couch.

Ethan at Grandma Linda's house in her little rocking chair.

We had dinner at Ben's parents house. This is Ethan trying to feed himself. I think he got more on him and the tray, and the floor then actually in his mouth.

This picture is blurry (I know, you're saying "gee, I didn't notice, it's a good thing you told me"). These are my sister in law's Shayla and Shalleece...we went and saw Twilight. It was even better the second time!

Me with my brother Kit.

Me, my sister in law Liz, my brother's girlfriend Lynzie, and my sister Summer on the Love Sac (and Hank Hill in the background, he wanted to be in the picture too).

Never Think

How 'bout that, I finally added some pictures. They are a little out of order, but whatever. We haven't really had that much going on around here so here are a few things we have been doing...

I went to see Twilight on opening day with my sister-in-law Liz, my mom, and my sister. We had a great time and screamed like 12 year old girls in the theater. It was great! I burned the soundtrack to CD, it is awesome...hence the title.

I gave my boys a bath...good for me right? Here is Ryan being silly.

Here is Ethan after his bath. He was trying to put lotion in his hair.

Ethan in the bath.
Here is Ethan in the car. I took the picture because A) he is adorable, and B) I had to tape his socks on his feet so he wouldn't take them off. If you ever see me around with Ethan and he doesn't have socks and shoes on in the dead of winter...we'll blame Ethan. He hates having shoes and socks on.

Just did a little Christmas decorating. I don't have a chimney so I hang my stockings...in the hallway? Hmm, I didn't have anywhere else to put them.

Here is a picture of my nicely decorated tree after I put the kids to bed. The next morning Ethan had all the ornaments off the bottom half of the tree. So our tree is a little top heavy. We will keep it that way all month. No need to kill myself trying to keep up with putting the ornaments back right?

And the Twilight sign. As you can tell, I was pretty excited to see the movie.

See, not too much happening around here. Happy Thanksgiving!
