Recipes

Regan...I'm embarrassed to say that Navajo Tacos are the easiest thing ever to make. I just get Rhodes rolls and have them rise like the package says (right Sarah?), then I make scones out of them (stretch the dough and put it in a skillet with hot oil, cook on both sides). Then I heat canned chili to go over the top with shredded Cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, and salsa (like a taco, but over a scone not on a tortilla).

As for the Oatmeal squares...well it's just cereal. I don't like to eat my cereal with milk, I like to eat it out of the box like a snack. So they are the Quaker Oatmeal Squares in a blue box on the top shelf of the cereal isle...by the healthy stuff. I like the brown sugar kind, not the cinnamon...I only like cinnamon on a roll.

So Ryan says the funniest stuff sometimes. I'm a huge fan of Michael Jackson's music. I love to turn it on and dance and sing while I'm cleaning. Well, I started to sing Billy Jean and Ryan said, "Mom, I don't like your singing, please stop". I laughed and thought, at least he remembers his manners while he's being rude.

Also, we have a picture of Jesus on our fridge right now and Ryan asked if Jesus lives at preschool, or at church, and I said he lives in heaven. He just said.."no, I think probably preschool". Does that mean he likes preschool? Alright, I guess I better go, Ethan is trying to eat my arm.

The boys are slowly on the mend from being sick. Ben went to church today to learn our new calling as librarians and I stayed home with the boys. Ben says the library has to be the best calling in the world. There is no preparation, and you're only busy for 15 minutes after Sacrament, and 15 minutes between classes, then you just sit there and chat (or with us, deal with our kids). Last night Ben and I went to Tooele so Ben's mom could watch the boys for us. And we left for an hour...it's a miracle...we were alone for an hour! Yea! Today while Ben was at church I made homemade oreos and scones for Navajo Tacos. Ben left at 2pm for Missouri for work. He'll be back in a few days. He's usually gone once a week out of town and it never gets easier. I feel like we haven't done anything fun for a while. Having sick kids for a total of 2 1/2 weeks gets exhausting...I need to get out! I put Ethan under this floor gym while I'm blogging, and after a minute I found this...he twisted around and pulled it down on top of him.

Has anyone else been so sick recently? Gosh, we can't seem to get better. Ethan is still sick, he has an ear infection and a bad cough. Ryan has the flu. Ryan missed preschool today. Both of the boys stayed home sick from church. My mom was here Saturday night so Ben and I could go on a date, we went to Famous Dave's for dinner then came home to feed the baby so we could go to a movie. When we got back, Ethan was screaming for him mom so we decided it would be best to skip the movie. Anyway, my mom watched the boys so Ben and I could hit the last hour of church. Then we had scones and hot chocolate after. Yum! Oh, our ward just split, so there was a need for more callings. Ben and I got called as the ward librarians...does anyone know how to do that job?? I guess I thought it was reserved for older people...boy was I wrong. It will actually be nice since I'm usually out in the hall anyway with one or both boys, I don't have to worry about screaming kids in the library. So, I'm trying out this new nail polish. I painted my nails black. Ben thinks I look like a goth, but I've seen it on a few people and it looks good...as long as they're not wearing black. But I guess I did dye my hair almost black, so I see where Ben is coming from. I'll have to post a picture I guess so you can tell me what you think.

Ben made a fabulous breakfast for dinner Friday night. He was in the mood for the works, hashbrowns, eggs, sausage, bacon, and he made smiley face chocolate chip pancakes for me and Ryan. Tasty! Thanks Ben!
Ethan has been getting up every hour and a half, so I thought I'd try him on rice. He did NOT like it. I had to shove it in his mouth. Maybe we'll have to wait on that.

Valentines Day

Ben got me the coolest Valentines Day present (I told him I didn't want anything). He got me the cutest camera ever. He started telling me all the stuff the camera can do and I said, "Ben, it's Red, that's all I care about" :-) He also got me a black camera case with pink stitching. He gave it to me the day before Valentines Day (we both hate surprises). (I got him a really cool watch that runs without a battery, I'm sure he'd love to show you). Valentines Day actually really sucked for Ben and I. I woke up with what I thought was the flu (it is actually a breast infection, and now I have a prescription for it). I felt awful! It reminded me of being pregnant...yeah, I don't want to do that again...I love my two boys and that's probably all I will have. Anyway, so Ben stayed home half the day. He took Ryan to Preschool and went out to find that the Sequoia had a flat tire. He took Ryan in the truck, then came back to check on me and let me sleep until he had to pick Ryan up. He pumped the tire up and took it to get repaired. They said they could not repair it, because it was too close to another repair job...and they said all our tires were pretty low on their tread, and we'd need to get new tires. So while Ben was supposed to be home helping me, he had to stay at the tire shop and get all 4 tires replaced. It really sucks when you just buy a car, then a month later have to replace all the tires. So $800 later we have new tires. I guess we'll have to look more closely at the tires when we buy a car. Anyway, we're going to pretend Valentines Day is Saturday. My mom is going so sleep over and watch the kids for us so Ben and I can go on a date (hopefully I'll feel better).

Weekend

Last Friday I took Ryan and Ethan to Discovery Gateway with our friend Anne and her kids Collin and Mazie. Ryan and Collin were born a week apart and we've been friends with them since then. We met them when we lived in Holladay...they now live in Bountiful and we live in Riverton, so we try to get together with them about once a month. Then on Saturday we had Grandma Sharol's funeral. It was very beautiful, and Grandma Linda sang without crying. Then we hung out with family the rest of that day. On Sunday Ethan was sick so we stayed home from church, but we went out to Mom & Dad Clegg's for dinner with Grandpa Chuck (Mom Clegg's dad). On Monday Ben went to St. George (and he is so jealous of the weather down there now), so Ryan, Ethan and I ran errands all day. Today is my mom's birthday...she is 51! Can you belive it! :-) Mom and Dad invited us to lunch today for her birthday. It was nice to see them! Stuff

Ethan had his 4 month well baby check yesterday. He is a growing boy. He weighed almost 17 lbs. and was 25.6 inches long. His little head is only in the 23 percentile. Big body little head, but he is so cute! He had to get 3 shots, him and Ryan cried. Ryan felt really bad for him. Dr. Duffy said Ethan has big ulcers in his mouth. It's like Hand Foot Mouth, without the Hand and Foot part. The doctor says he's probably in a lot of pain. So we just keep giving him Tylenol and Motrin, and hopefully it will go away soon.

Ryan had his allergy testing appointment yesterday (it was a long day). He was being tested for being allergic to the cold (like cold water, snow, cold air). His test came back negative which I thought was weird. Everytime he plays outside in the cold, or touches the snow for longer than 10-15 mins, he comes back in with huge hives on his face, hands, and feet. They worry that if he goes into cold water like a swimming pool he could actually die because his whole body would turn into a hive. So anyway, it's a big deal, but the ice cube test they did didn't work. So his allergist said if it happens again, call and she'll have him go play in the snow outside her office to test it again. But, it would be great if it really is negative! Ryan did so well in the doctors office yesterday. He had to have the ice cube test twice and he just sat there and let the nurse do her thing. We were there for 1.5 hours and he didn't even complain. It was awesome! So we went and picked dad up and let him choose a place to eat. He wanted Rice and a Quesidilla at Barbacoa.

Also yesterday we found out that Ben's Grandma Sharol Lawrence passed away. She has had cancer since last year. We went out last thrusday to say goodbye (they knew she wouldn't last long). We know she's in a better place though, and we're grateful she's not in pain anymore. We loved her very much! We're not sure when the funeral is, but we will be attending one soon.

Ryan was pretty excited, they had pajama day at preschool today (he wore his spongebob pj's), and they made smores. He also traced his name for the first time today instead of just scribbled. It was awesome!! I was so proud.

Super Bowl

Go Giants! We're glad the underdog won. Ben never watched football until I came along. I don't watch all the football games, but if Greenbay plays I like to watch. And I of course have to have my annual Super Bowl party. This year we invited Ben's brothers and sisters. We had a lot of junk food and enjoyed the awesome game.This is Sam and his "friend" Shalise (I don't know how to spell her name) and Peter on the love sac.
