I was able to go the the Shower childless. It was awesome! Then I went to the General Relief Society meeting with my mom in Stansbury. We had a great time, although I didn't get any pictures of that.

My Not Much to Post Post
Ben's older brother Rob passed the bar exam this summer(way to go Rob!) so we celebrated and went to Cafe Trang in Draper. We usually like to go to the one in Downtown, but for the sake of closeness we went to this one. I love Cream Cheese Won tons!
This was the view at our table.
We went to our next door neighbor's wedding last weekend. Jared Curtis got married. It's a blurry picture, but you get the idea.
Ben's sister Liz and me at Shayla's baby shower in Erda...Don't laugh, I look a little fat here. Gotta love self portraits.
Sister in law Shayla at her shower.
The Janice Clegg girls listening to a story cousin Jen was telling.
My mother in law, Linda, with Ben's sister's Liz and Maren.
Shayla's mom with my sister in law Kandis and Aunt Marge in the background.

Our Neck of the Woods (or is it street?)
Not much happening in our neck of the...whatever. Last Friday we went and saw IGOR

I decided to feed Ethan some tasty Junior Mints

We'll pretend that's Ethan eating them (okay, I'm in a weird mood and I thought the picture was funny). Anyway, about 35 minutes into the movie Ethan puked ALL over the place, on me, in my purse, on the seat, on the floor, in the popcorn. Ben said it smelt like minty puke...so I guess good news for the people sitting in front and behind us. If you happened to be in the district theater for the 6:55 showing of that movie last Friday, I apologize if you smelt something rank! Needless to say, we had to leave. So that was a huge waste of money. No more Junior Mints for my little boy (in my defense, it was the only thing that would keep him quiet).
The next couple weeks are going to suck if anyone wants to visit or call or whatever. (Ben's schedule, don't read if you think you might get bored) Ben goes to Idaho Monday to Tuesday has class Tuesday night until 10 pm, studies with friends until midnight, goes out of town again Wednesday to Thursday, has class Thursday, gets home at around 11:30 pm. Has a final Friday, class Saturday, Ethan's birthday Sunday. Then Monday he goes to Kansas City until Tuesday, Class Tuesday night until midnight, then to Idaho Wednesday to Thursday, class Thursday night until 11:30 pm. Then Friday I told him to take half the day off since he would have worked so much that week, but he said with him being out of town he has a lot of catch up to do. I told him so what...take the damn day off! (did I just swear on my blog...crap, I should probably erase that, I'll regret it tomorrow).
See, not much exciting going on around here. Love, KELLY

First Day of Preschool and other Equally Interesting Things
Toilet Paper Paper
It has been requested that I put this paper I did a while ago on my blog. Most people did their paper on the war in Iraq and abortion. I opted to do mine on toilet paper. I'm sure the paper is not perfect, so don't judge my writing...it's for enjoyment purposes only.
Over the past 200 years technological advances have enriched many lives and alleviated much of the difficulties that burdened previous generations. Many of these advances facilitate easier lives and more hygienic living. Not the least of these advancements is the production and widespread distribution of hygienic paper also known as toilet paper. Previous generations used many items for this mundane, yet very necessary, task. Eskimos used tundra moss when available in the summer months, and handfuls of snow during the balance of the year. Those living in coastal areas or tropical settings used mussel shells or old coconut shells, those living in the colonial times of America used cobs of corn, or hung paper products in the form of mail order catalogs. In ancient Rome, the popular item was a sponge attached to the end of a stick immersed in salt water. If this were the case today, it’s possible we might take the phrase, “wrong end of the stick” a little more seriously. Many societies in the Eastern parts of the world saw it socially correct to use their left hand. Some theorists believe that this is why most cultures use their right hands when meeting new people. This previous form of hygiene is still transgressed in those cultures today, as they find it rude and socially incorrect to shake the left hand of another. Obviously there has been much progress to speak of in this area.
These advancements came with new hardships one of which is in the form of selection. One in today’s society must make the difficult decision of which toilet paper to purchase. Each brand has several options and each option has several pros and cons. A person must weigh which benefit is better for them; absorption, softness, aloe, quilted, plies, and sheets per roll are all examples of difficult decisions. The old saying “you can’t have your cake and eat it too” applies in this case. You have to give something up to get another item. There are too many choices for toilet paper. Take a trip down the toilet paper isle and gaze upon the wonderful world of white that has gradually come about over the last 100 years. Choosing between: Charmin, Charmin Ultra, Charmin double, Charmin Triple, Charmin unscented/scented, Quilted Northern, Cottonelle, Angle soft, Soft’n Gentle, Scott, or even Brawni.
It’s safe to say that in today’s world there are a lot more options than a seashell, or an ear of corn but nothing truly compares to that of toilet paper. Its significance to a person’s life frequents more times daily than the toothbrush, hair spray, shower, or dinner table-people too often forget the importance of toilet paper. Whether it is due to the bad wrap that comes with its association with the bathroom and what goes on there, or just the simple fact that we have never had to do without it. This multiple purpose paper provides for people, makes things more convenient for them, and ultimately helps one feel and be clean. Another positive aspect of toilet paper is that it is also very versatile. Outside of its obvious use, many people find that it makes a great substitute for that common problem of an empty Kleenex box. Some find that it is perfect for Halloween costumes, while others use it to decorate certain people’s homes in the middle of the night. Whatever the case may be, toilet paper is always providing a great service.
Since society is lucky enough to have toilet paper, one must make an accurate decision as to which kind to use. Regardless of how gross our associations of toilet paper and the bathroom are, the product itself has made life easier for everyone. Today there are over 5,000 different companies producing bathroom tissue around the world trying to make our lives more convenient, clean and efficient. In a study back in 1997, it was estimated that 71.48 frugal people contribute to the waste of one roll of 1,000 sheet single ply toilet paper everyday.
With that much toilet paper being used and the many choices of the fluffy white stuff a person has, one must really know their toilet paper in order to make proper decision on what to buy. There are few solutions to this problem. First, when a person goes down the toilet paper isle and sees the many selections, there needs to be a sample pack next to the regular packs. The sample pack consists of a variety of brands like Charmin, Quilted Northern, Cottonelle, Angle Soft, Soft’n Gentle, etc. Once that has been taken home and tested, one now knows which brand he or she likes. After the brand is chosen there is another sample pack for example, if someone chooses Charmin, they now need to choose between regular Charmin, Charmin Ultra, Charmin Double, Charmin Triple, or Charmin unscented/scented.
The second solution for choosing toilet paper could simply be a toilet paper tester store. For example, in a store like Home Depot a person can go to the toilet isle and look and all the different toilets they should buy. Another store even has an isle where a person can actually sit on the toilet and see which feels better. Well, it should be the same for toilet paper. There needs to be a store with several private sound proof toilet rooms with many different toilet paper brands and kinds to choose from. That way, in one quick trip to the store a person knows for the rest of his or her life what toilet paper they should buy. If the toilet paper companies come out with new kinds of toilet paper, then one would just have to go back the store and test it out.
And the last solution would be a mail sample pack. Laundry detergent companies give out free samples of their product in many different ways. Cologne and perfume companies give away free samples in catalogs or by the annoying man or women in the department store waiting to spray a person as they walk innocently by. Toilet paper should be the same way. When someone buys a new home, toilet paper companies should have a care package of their brand of toilet paper waiting for the new home owner. Or likewise with new renters, the T.P. companies should give land lords samples to give to tenants. With so many choices out there toilet paper companies need to get their foot in the door and give samples so people will realize how great their paper is over the other product. They will have thousands of dollars of revenue from one person just by giving out a small sample of their T.P. brand.
Toilet paper is produced for people’s hygiene, but is often too oblivious to a person’s own consciousness that it is one of the biggest conveniences in someone’s daily life. After giving a little information on the history and importance of toilet paper, and shown one how T.P. is everyone’s friend and it’s okay to talk about it, people must have a greater appreciation for toilet paper and how lucky people are to have it over using moss or snow. No one should use toilet paper without first trying the many different kinds. Hopefully people enjoy toilet paper and every other small thing that contributes to making one’s life easier and more convenient.

Did you step on a marshmallow?
I was apparently the comic relief for Ben when he got home from school last night. Ben's side of the story:
Ben comes home at 11:30 p.m. to find all the lights off and everyone in bed. He brushes his teeth takes off his clothes and climbs into bed in the dark. 5 seconds later I turn over look at him and say, "did you step on a marshmallow"? and roll back over and back to sleep.
Kelly's side of the story:
Ben comes home at 11:28 p.m., turns on all the lights goes to the kitchen to take his asthma medication, opens the mail, I think he had a little snack. Then he turns the hall light on, checks on the kids, brushes his teeth, takes off his clothes and climbs into bed. (yes, I know all this because I am in bed, but awake). He gets in bed and I thought, I wonder if he stepped on a marshmallow. Ryan was supposed to be in bed earlier but I caught him on Ben's side of the bed on the floor with a bag of marshmallows. I remembered when Ben crawled into bed that I forgot to pick up the marshmallows after I carried Ryan to bed so I thought Ben might have stepped on one. So when he climbed in bed I looked at him and said, "did you step on a marshmallow?". Then rolled over and tried to go to sleep.
Ben said he's going to tell his side of the story though because he doesn't believe me that I was awake.
After we stopped laughing at the dumb marshmallow thing I told him something else that he thought was SO funny...
Last month I made cookies two days in a row and gave them to my neighbors, Lowell and Cheryl. After the second set of cookies Cheryl asked me what the occasion was for all the cookies and I told her the truth, I was on my period. I always bake and eat sweets on my period. So last night I made brownies with peanut butter chips and called my neighbors behind me to see if they wanted some. I met Tim at the back fence and gave him some brownies, he asked what the occasion was and I couldn't tell him the truth, he's a guy! So I did not say, "I'm on my period", I said, "Um...Um...", he filled in the blank and said, for 9/11 right? I said, "Yes, go troops". So then Ben busted up laughing again saying Tim is probably making fun of me for saying, "go troops". (I'm not trying to make light of such a sad day I promise) But I couldn't say, "Go people who lost their lives on that tragic day". So then Ben said, well now Tim is making fun of you, when you should have said, "yes, I made a calorie for every person who lost their life that day".
We thought it was pretty darn hilarious.

The Fair
My brother-in-law Rob invited Ben and I to the Utah State Fair last Friday, but with Ben being super busy with work, going out of town every week, and starting his MBA he doesn't have much time for anything extracurricular. So, Rob and his wife Kandis took pity on me and let me tag along with them to the fair with my boys. We had a blast. I love fairs. Something about noise, the smell of delicious food mixed with cow manure and cotton candy. Yum! I am seriously terrified to ride carnival rides, I guess I've watched the History channel too many times, but who doesn't love to be around them? Just watching everyone have such a great time (while I'm envisioning the diseases they'll get). It was fun going with Kandis, she got stopped by almost every vendor there. She must be too nice. I just look at the stuff and never make eye contact. It was hilarious when someone from Party Gals asked her if she'd ever heard of them. She said no, and they began to tell her all the fabulous lotions they have (not to mention other unmentionables...unmentionable because I will blush). I told her she needed to start telling people she's heard of them when they ask. Anyway here we are at the fair...
Ryan loves the tractors.
With the sheep. Ryan wasn't very happy about a having a picture taken.
Ryan and Cousin Raygan petting the rabbit. Ethan loved the rabbits, he would giggle and point and want to get down to touch them.
I did let Ryan ride one ride, he chose the helicopters. Don't worry I sanitized his hands after...then got a snow cone. Yum!
Me, Kandis, Ryan, Ethan, and Raygan in front of a horse made of horseshoes.
