Ben's Uncle Dan and his Mom invited us to have a private tour with a General Authority of the Oquirrh Mountain Temple last Saturday. Instead of meeting in the tents, Elder Kikuchi took us right in the temple and showed us the video in the temple waiting room. Then he took us around the temple himself, telling us what things meant to him. And told us some really neat stories. I'll be honest, I actually felt guilty. He would take us off the carpet protector path onto the real carpet and take us in the rooms and sit us down and talk to us for about 15-20 minutes in each room. When we went to the baptismal font he actually stopped traffic and closed the doors to talk to us privately. I think sitting in the sealing room with Elder Kikuchi was the neatest experience for me. He had some great stories to share. We had a family group of about 10 people and another Doctor and his Wife that Uncle Dan knew from the hospital (Uncle Dan is a doctor at University of Utah Hospital).
I hesitated on whether or not I should even say anything. Because:
A). How is it fair that we got a private tour...what made us special?
B). I promise the church is not more true for us because we got a special tour
C). Again, I felt guilty that we were taken in front of people, and other people had to wait on us...people who may not have been members of the church and it might have made them also think "what makes them so special".
Nevertheless, it was still a special experience for us. Ben had a final so he couldn't go, but I took my boys. They were the only kids in the group. They did an awesome job! They were both so quiet and reverent. It was great! Then Ben's Mom took us out to Cafe Rio after....YUM!
