Lagoon & Other Nonsense
The day before my surgery we took the kids to Lagoon. Ethan loved it! Ryan only loved it when the sun went down. It was a hot day. Ryan was really cute and wanted to take Ethan on all the "kiddie rides". I hate riding rides so it worked out that I had to stay off of them with Ethan. Ryan was so big and went on a few of the big roller coasters. Although he'll be able to go on more rides next year. We left the park at about 8:30 p.m. to go eat dinner (I wanted a big burger and fries for my "last meal"). Then we took the kids to Grandma Linda and Grandpa Bob's to have a sleepover for 3 nights while mom was getting her tonsils out. Here are more pictures at Lagoon:

As for me, I am doing a lot better. I had my post-op appointment today. They said all my scabs came off but I still have about 3 more weeks of healing to go. And I have a lot of swelling too (I told you I was super swollen). They told me to just not talk and it would go down. HAHA! That's a funny joke. Try not to talk when you have kids around you have to take care of. Anyway, I'm able to eat almost anything, it still hurts some and burns a little, but I can't complain...I have food in my belly! Although, I'm a little bummed, I don't think I lost any weight during this...the one thing I was looking forward to. Dang it! So now I just talk a little funny, I have to have water with me all the time, and I can't eat chips or popcorn yet. Other than that, I am doing okay.
This part is for my friends getting their tonsils out soon:
Make sure you have someone with you for between 7-10 days. You will be on drugs and will not be able to take care of your kids.
Use a Humidifier...I am still using mine.
Pain Scale 0-10 0-no pain 10- ready to meet my maker
Day 1-2 Pain: 5
Day 3 Pain: 6
Day 4-7 Pain: 9
Day 8-9 Pain: 8
Day 10-12 Pain: 6-7
Day 13 Pain: Much Better. I'm thinking my scabs came off between day 10-12. I didn't really feel the scabs too much. But I kept them VERY moist. I was constantly sipping on water and that helped a lot. I also started to eat some normal food around day 11. That helps with getting the scabs off. It hurts...but do it! Do NOT pick at your scabs. You will bleed. That is bad. Day 4-7 I did not sleep at night...at all! I was up all night keeping my scabs moist with water. It was painful...and I could not sleep. DVR came in real handy.
Diet: I tried to eat soup the first day...I threw it up.
Day 2-7 I ate Jello (that was awesome), Slim-fast (weight loss stuff from Costco), Chicken broth, Chocolate Milkshakes, KFC Mashed Potatoes, Jambas and water, water, water.
Day 8-10- Canned Peaches (the juice kind of burned, but the peaches tasted good), a few bites of hash browns, I actually ate a whole slice of bacon (but paid for it after...although I think it helped with getting scabs off), and I ate a waffle drenched in syrup, and chicken soup and squash.
Day 11-17 (now) I could eat almost anything (except hard cereal, chips, popcorn etc.) It just takes a long time to eat. If I eat too fast...it comes out my nose (you'll understand when you go through it). I am still drinking lots of water. It really does help. I even went to church yesterday with a water bottle.
p.s. You will have lots and lots and lots of mucus. I was constantly spitting in the sink. They say not to eat milk products, but I really found the milkshakes tasty and soothing so I did it anyway. Yogurt burned my throat, and milk coated it nicely. Just drink lots of water and the mucus will get better.
Meds:
I was on Tylenol 4 with Codeine. I don't like Percocete or Lortab (they make me puke). I got the liquid form, but make sure you get it FLAVORED. I had to mix my meds with Slim-fast because it tasted SO freaking bad, and burned SO freaking bad. But it was better than swallowing a pill. By day 10 I was off my meds. I was still in pain, but it was better then being sick from the drugs. I layed in bed ALL the time. I was also on, Prednisone (steroids), Anti-biotics, Zofran (anti-nausea). Taking meds on and empty stomach sucks...so I would take it with a few gulps of slim-fast to ease the stomach pain. (I never want to drink Slim-fast again!).
Do Not: Cough, Blow your nose, Sneeze (did it...ouch!), Hack, Clear your throat. I barely blew my nose for the first time today, it still didn't feel too good. Do not talk if it hurts...it will make it worse. I used a pad of paper and pen to communicate. Do not get depressed. I know it will be hard.
Was it worth it:
I'm not sure yet. I think it will be. The doctor said he pulled 50-60 infected Tonsil Stones out. Gross! So hopefully I won't be getting sick a lot and my breath will be better. I'm looking forward to 3 weeks from now.
It was awful. The worst surgery I've had. I'm sure it will be worth it though. Just remember that it will end!
Again, thanks to my Mom for taking a week off of work to come help me. And to my Grandma for coming to help the next week. She made me lots of food for the freezer so I'm set on meals for a little while. They were both a lot of help and I swear I could not have done it without them. And thanks to Ben for taking the kids to do fun things before you started school. It was good for them to get out of the house. And for filling up my humidifier with water every night without me asking and for stopping at KFC for Mashed Potatoes and at Jamba Juice for a smoothie. Thanks to Ben's Parents for watching the kids when I had the surgery. And thanks to Jake and Shayla for visiting and for the Jambas. And thanks to my visiting teachers for bringing in a meal for my family. I have felt very blessed and grateful. Thanks again!

Tonsillectomy: Worse Than Child Birth (No drama intented)
Really, I am not trying to be a drama queen here, so if you don't want depressing...don't read. It is the middle of the night, and I am on Codeine so I better make this quick before it becomes too blurry.
Tonsillectomy-Just Say No
Seriously. I went into this totally nervous, and I am still totally nervous. The surgery went well they tell me, I was able to swallow a couple sips of water then they sent me on my way. That night as I was trying to sleep I kept waking up feeling like I could not breathe. So we headed to the ER. The doctor failed to mention that my mouth was really small and it was hard to get all the tools in my mouth so I was extremely swollen. So they put me on steroids. Now if any of you have taken steroids before you know they make you cranky and very very hungry. Well guess who can't eat? I have been living off of small amounts of slim fast/milkshakes/chicken broth/water/jello now for 7 days. Forget about the yogurt and the pudding I had planned...they burn my throat. Day 1-2 were not terrible (they were bad, but not terrible). Day 3-5 Awful. Just Awful. I can't even cry because it hurts my throat too bad. And if you've called me and I haven't answered the phone...it's because I can't freaking talk. Nope, not at all. One whole week of not talking. Day 7...earlier today. I ate 4 bites of hash browns and I was feeling good. I got up and walked around the house, and even held my cute little boys. But now I'm paying for it. Ben and I got in bed, he fell asleep and here I am blogging because my stupid scabs are pulling away from my throat and trying to come off. And talk about PAIN. Throat pain, ear pain, neck pain! So I am going to sacrifice another night sleep just so my scabs don't dry out. And don't even get me started on the pooping! I have not freaking gone #2 in 8 days! I'm hungry, thirsty, tired, sore, and gassy. Looks like it will be another week of he**.
They say you're supposed to stay positive during this whole experience. We'll save positivity for the next post. I will go into more detail later but I also wanted to thank my mom for being here with me this week. I COULD NOT have done this without you. And I think I'm going to cry when you have to leave tomorrow. And thanks to my Mother-in-law for watching the boys for 3 nights while I had the surgery done. I have the best mom's ever.
**On a side note: if this post at all does not make sense or wasn't written well it's the drugs. I'm going really blurry/dizzy right now and I have to go lay down. I'm not even going to reread it before I post.

Americanized & a Ball Game
Have you seen those movies where they order out Chinese food and they're always eating out of these cute little boxes? Every time Ben and I see that we want Chinese food. So one night we just went out and bought some...with the cute little boxes. Now we can say we've eaten Chinese food out of a box. Has anyone been to China? Do they eat food out of these boxes, or are they Americanized?
My Uncle Shawn (guy in middle) came to visit for a minute from Las Vegas. Well he was really visiting his brother (these are my dad's brothers), my Uncle Pog (guy in pink), across the street. It's amazing how many family members I see now that I live by my Uncle Pog. Thanks for this visit. (P.S. I look terrible in this picture...sorry you have to look at it). :-)
Ben called me from work in the afternoon and said he wanted to go to a Bees game. So I ordered the tickets and we took Trax from Sandy as soon as Ben got home from work. Ethan and Ryan love riding Trax. So even though it takes longer we still try to take Trax from time to time.
We were lucky enough to have the Jazz Bear at the game that night. I love him, he's hilarious. He was SO close to us too. Ethan didn't care about the game much...he just kept saying, "Where's Bear?".
The game. It was awesome. We were right behind Home Plate. It's even more fun to watch when you have great seats!
I guess every Tuesday night is kids eat free day. (We picked a good day to go). So the boys had a hot dog, Cheez-its and a drink. They loved it! I love this picture of Ryan stuffing his face.
And I had to get Dippin' Dots. Mint Chocolate of course. They are my favorite. I have to get them any chance I get.
*We are going to Lagoon tomorrow as a family. And on Friday I am getting my Tonsils taken out. So I'm not sure when I will post again. I might be pretty drugged for a while. (who knows maybe I'll be fabulous the next day). :-) I'll do the Lagoon/Tonsil Post when I can.

Free Hugs
Ryan finished his level 1 swim lessons. He had no fear jumping off the diving board the last day. He was also excited to get a Popsicle. Way to go Ryan. I'm proud of you.
Ethan was having a hard time falling asleep the other night so Ryan came in and "rocked" him to sleep. It was really sweet. I have the cutest boys!
My Mom, Sister and I went to dinner and a movie (and ice cream...I love Baskin Robins). We had a really great time together like we always do.
After the ice cream we saw Ben and the boys coming out of Carl's Jr. so we had to go say hello. And Ben snapped this picture for us.
When we were walking out of the movie we saw some 16 year old boys with posters that said "Free Hugs". We could not resist. Summer and I got a free hug. When we were walking away, I said yeah, that's just what they wanted were hugs from old, fat, married girls. :-) We had a good laugh anyway.
While I was away on my girls night Ben took the boys to Carl's Jr. (yup, as was mentioned earlier) to play at the play place. Then they went to Wal-mart and got a treat and popcorn and watched Spongebob at home. I'm sure the boys would like to have me away more often since Dad always does fun things with them. Nothing like a girls night to make you realize how good you have it at home. (did that make sense? not that girls night stinks, I just end up missing my boys. it makes me grateful that I get to stay home with them all the time).
