Pack Reunion @ This is the Place

Just a little bit of history:
My family had the Pack reunion at This is The Place Heritage Park this last weekend. My Great Great Great Great Grandfather was John Pack. One of the 9 who found/scoped out the Salt Lake Valley on July 22nd, 1847 - 2 days before Brigham Young.
Here is our lineage (for our sake, I'm sure it's boring to you)
John Pack & Julia Ives
Ward Eaton Pack
Marvin Pack
Ada Pack Ford
Sharon Ford (Nielson) Reese
Sheri Nielson Harris
Kelly Harris Clegg
Ryan & Ethan Clegg
We also have another big reason to love the

University of Utah:

The very first classes at University of Deseret (now the University of Utah) were taught in my great great great great grandfathers' home.

My boys on the Train

Ryan, Aunt Syd, Mom, Ethan in front of the replica of John Packs home. When we went in the home, we told Ryan this was his great, great, great, great, great grandfather's home, and he thought it was so neat! He went exploring. It was so cute.

John Pack had 8 Wives, 1 divorced him, and 1 died. As you can see, he had a lot of children. I'm sure I dated one of my cousins growing up, with how many relatives I don't know. :-)

We were from the first son of the first wife. That made it easy to snap a picture of them together. :-)

John Pack is scruffy one in the back.

It was fun showing our boys where Mommy comes from.

Ryan & Pete's Adventures

Ryan brought home Pete the Cat (based off of the books) from school. He was supposed to take pictures of Pete going to different places, then write about it in a journal. He was the first one in his class to get Pete, then it gets passed on to all the other kids. We had so much fun with this assignment! Here is Pete and Ryan's Journey:

The Police Station. Above with Bruin the Bear.
The Police officers were amazing! They let Ryan and Pete get in the police car, turn on the lights, and other gadgets. They also came up with other fun things for us to do (further down in the post).

At the Fire station.
The Police Officers were so happy they were more fun than the fireman. They said, "What! The fireman didn't even let you go down the pole?"

The Police Officers called another Police officer who works at Herriman High School, and said we were coming to take pictures with Pete the Cat. He met us at the front door, and helped us with all the photos at Herriman High. I was just amazed at how sweet they were, and excited to help Ryan with his project. Above are Ryan & Pete on the Herriman High basketball court. (btw-I freaking wish my high school looked like Herriman High does...it was awesome!!)

Ryan spotting Pete the Cat

Practicing a little football on the field.

The Police Officer came up with this idea too. Pretty cool!

Pete was the football here, Ryan was coming in for a touchdown.
Go Mustangs!

Ryan and Pete got arrested. Oh no!!
(if you look closely, Ryan looks really sad...Ryan was a good actor!)

Pete and Ryan had some pretty wild adventures. We're sad to see him go back to school tomorrow.

We're going to miss Pete the Cat!!

White Trash Weekend

Seriously, have I mentioned before that I LOVE

Fairs, Demolition Derby's, Race Cars, Monster Trucks, Mullet Hunting??

Because I do. I've been told you can take the girl out of the trailer park, but you can't take the trailer park out of the girl.

We invited our friends, Paul & Courtney to the Derby/Fair in Tooele. We had such a great time!

My super awesome friend Courtney and I.

The hottest couple ever.

Dad braved the carnival ride.
I hate carnival rides, they're too rickety and old to me.

Cooling off by the fans.

Ryan and Logan watching the cars crash.

I'll be honest, the fair actually was very small and kind of sucked...but the Derby was awesome!

Ryan's gone ALL Day!

Ryan's in 1st Grade.

Can you believe it? I sure can't. It's like, one minute I look at him and can't believe how big he is...and the next minute I still see my little baby boy who refused to go to nursery. He seems to love 1st grade...except this morning when he woke and said, "Mom, can I sleep some more and not go to school". But that was my fault, I kept him up too late...poor kid. Early bed from now on. Mom & Dad love you Ryan, and are so proud of how awesome/good/fun/smart you are.

His favorite parts of 1st grade so far: Math, Recess & His cute ham sandwiches shaped like dinosaurs I pack him for lunch.
